Introduction To Working For A Local Authority [One Day]
To gain an understanding of the context and values within which local authorities operates. This learning outcome would cover;
- The role and function of local authorities; An overview of the legislation and historical development of local authorities
- The importance of local democracy
- An overview of local authority services and departments - values, vision and aspirations
- Your place in the local authority – your contribution, your working conditions, your career
Valuing Diversity; Basic Equalities Awareness [One Day]
We will be reviewing relevant legislation and exploring how concepts such as power and oppression are experienced by disadvantaged groups.
We would expect participants to be able to recognise discrimination and prejudice and have the confidence to interrupt it.
Assertiveness [One Day]
“Say what you mean and mean what you say” an exploration of the difference between aggressive, passive and assertive behaviour. We rehearse language and behaviour in a variety of settings to give participants the opportunity to internalise assertive behaviour patterns.
On Being A Team Player [One Day]
During this workshop we explore;
- Issues around team building
- A discussion about roles and responsibilities
- Contributing to and getting the most out of meetings
- A discussion about individual and team targets
